The Larry McDonald Scholarship may be awarded to either Oregon or Clark County, Washington residents studying in the Arts or Humanities, which includes ancient and modern languages, literature, history, philosophy, religion, fine arts, and visual and performing arts such as music and theatre. Applicants must be pursuing post-secondary education in the coming 2025-2026 school year. This includes community college; four-year public or private college or university; certificate programs; or graduate education. Three essays are required, the Personal Statement and the Community Involvement essay may be submitted in written form or a video essay. Optional materials that can be included with the application are academic transcripts; resume with work experience, school activities and honors, and extracurricular and community activities, including volunteer roles, arts, and/or activism; a letter of recommendation; and 1-2 writing or art samples. Transcripts are only required for applicants from Washington. Applicants from Alaska, Idaho, Montana, or Oregon are not required to submit transcripts.
