The AFCEA Joan Bowden ROTC Scholarship was established in memory of Joan Bowden, past president and board member of the Montgomery AFCEA Chapter Educational Foundation. The scholarship will be awarded annually to an ROTC student who attends a university in the AFCEA Mid-South Region (Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, or the northwest Florida panhandle). Applicants must be enrolled in the Air Force option. They must also be majoring in a STEM discipline. Applicants must be of good moral character. They must also demonstrate academic excellence, financial need, and the potential to serve as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Armed Forces. Applicants must submit at least one letter of recommendation from a professor at their current institution. Recommenders must submit their letters to AFCEA in PDF format via email. A nomination letter must also be submitted by one of the following: Professor of Military Science, Professor of Naval Science, Professor of Aerospace Studies, or Designated Commanding Officer. The letter must be submitted as a PDF and emailed directly to AFCEA. Applicants may also submit one additional letter of recommendation or a resume as optional materials to support their application.
