To honor Richard's memory and to keep alive his splendid example of service, the Richard E. Whitted Scholarship was created to award a college-bound member of the senior class of each of the Orange County and Chapel Hill-Carrboro City schools who has shown outstanding academic achievement and public service. Applicants must be graduating seniors at Cedar Ridge High School, Orange High School, Carrboro High School, Chapel Hill High School or East Chapel Hill High School who are planning to enroll at a four-year college or university.
