1st Financial Bank USA wants to celebrate those who recognize the importance of pursuing educational and financial goals with the 1st Financial Bank USA Financial Goals Scholarship.
The Caesar E. Chavez and Dolores Huerta Education Awards Program provides recognition for educators and their students who demonstrate an understanding of the vision and guiding principles embraced by Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta. Visual arts and written essay applicants must show evidence of how one or more of the following principles are evident in their lives: (1) Principles of nonviolence; (2) Self determination through unionization (forming and joining unions); (3) Social justice for farmworkers; (4) Safe food/health/environmental issues; (5) Human and civil rights issues; (6) Teamwork, cooperation, collaboration, and/or service to others; (7) Empowerment of the disenfranchised; (8) Innovation and education. The individual student must be enrolled at and attend the same school or campus as the sponsoring CTA member. Applications from all students including Special Ed, Alternative Ed, ELL, etc. are encouraged. Visual art applicants must submit two-dimensional art only. They must include a typed or written explanation as to how the artwork addresses one or more of the aforementioned principles. Pre-K, Transitional Kindergarten through second grade students may have their responses transcribed. For written essay applicants, the essay should not be a biography of Cesar E.
