1st Financial Bank USA wants to celebrate those who recognize the importance of pursuing educational and financial goals with the 1st Financial Bank USA Financial Goals Scholarship.
Established in 1991 to honor the memory of Sylvia Chavez, a gifted and devoted MANA de San Diego volunteer, Sylvia understood higher education is a key to achieving equal participation in the social, educational and economic arenas. The MANA de San Diego Scholarship Program enables exceptional Latinas to continue the journey toward success, leadership and empowerment by providing financial assistance when enrolled in an institution of higher learning. Annually, MANASD awards financial support to a wide range of worthy students, from community college students on the road to a Bachelor's Degree to doctoral candidates on the verge of a Ph.D. Applicants must show proof of Fall 2026 - Spring 2027 enrollment at a community college, four-year university, or graduate level program, including postdoctoral programs, when submitting the application. Applicants must also be a Latina, with a permanent residence in San Diego County and/or attending a San Diego County college or university. The scholarship application is open to undocumented/DACA/AB540 Latina students. Special consideration is given to active MANA members. One reference form must be submitted from someone who is knowledgeable of the applicant's educational goals, leadership or community involvement, and perseverance.
