The McNair Scholars Program is a federally funded TRIO educational grant designed to provide low-income, first-generation college students and students from groups underrepresented in graduate education with effective preparation for doctoral studies. Students admitted to the program will engage in mentored research, experiences, and other scholarly and academic activities for approximately two years until graduation. Services to students include academic research, mentoring, graduate application assistance, academic advising, graduate school visits, conference presentations, scholarly workshops, and exposure to cultural events. McNair Scholars receive a stipend of up to $2,800 linked to accomplishing specific academic milestones and assistance in securing admission and financial support for enrollment in doctoral programs. Students seeking professional graduate degrees, such as business (MBA), law (JD), dentistry (DDS), medicine (MD), K-12 education (MSED), nursing (MSN) and social work (MSW) are not eligible for the program. The McNair Scholars program has rolling admissions. However, we would like to receive applications by either August 30th, January 4th, or June 1st of each academic year. Please visit the scholarship's website for more information.
