The Amadeu dos Santos & Helen Rose Picado Memorial Scholarship is a non-renewable award with a minimum value of $1,500, though applicants may reapply each academic year. It is open to U.S. residents of Portuguese or Lusophone ancestry who are currently enrolled in a graduate or credential program (e.g., Master's, PhD, or teaching credential) and hold a minimum GPA of 3.0. Applicants must not be direct descendants of the donor and must also demonstrate a connection to Portuguese language or heritage by meeting at least one of the following: minimal fluency in Portuguese, current enrollment in Portuguese language courses, Portuguese spoken at home, or strong cultural identification with Portuguese or Lusophone traditions.
