The Burlingame/Gerrity Horticultural Therapy Scholarship honors the work of Alice Wessels Burlingame, who helped develop the field of horticultural therapy as a profession in 1952. Horticultural therapy enriches the lives of children, challenged adults, and seniors. The scholarship was established in 1984 to encourage and advance horticultural therapy. Eligible applicants should be enrolled in a bachelor's or post-baccalaureate degree program in horticultural therapy or a bachelor's degree program in horticulture with an emphasis on, or certificate in, horticultural therapy.
