The Stossel in the Classroom Video Contest is open to students in grades 5-12 and college at some point during the contest period. No more than one video submission will be accepted for each student. Students must reside in the U.S., Canada, or at a U.S. military address, and all submissions should be in English. The contest helps students build valuable skills in communication, critical thinking, and digital media. Students may enter on their own, or teachers can assign it and earn rewards for participation. Applicants must choose one from this year's prompts and build their case. (1) The Truth About Tariffs: Who Really Pays? Analyze a specific tariff policy and its effects on prices, jobs, consumer choice, and trade. (2) The Birthright Citizenship Debate: Evaluate whether the 14th Amendment's interpretation should continue or be reinterpreted, and why. (3) America at 250: Why It Matters to Me. Reflect on what America's founding ideals mean to you today and where we've met or missed them. (4) Time's Up? Should Congress Have Term Limits? Take a position on term limits for Congress and weigh possible tradeoffs. Videos must be no shorter than 1 minute in length and no longer than 3 minutes in length. Videos must be uploaded to somewhere accessible to others, such as YouTube, TikTok, Vimeo, or Google Drive. Make sure the video is not set to Private. All videos must be the original work of the student whose name is listed on the submission form. AI-generated material is not allowed. Using video footage, music, or graphics that exist in the public domain, fall under fair use, or for which the applicant has obtained permission is acceptable. Multiple students may collaborate on one video, but the video should only be submitted once, under a single student's name. Please visit the award's website for more information.
