Mandell and Lester Rosenblatt Undergraduate Scholarship is part of the SNAME Undergraduate Scholarships Program. The scholarship is to be awarded, when merited in the opinion of the SNAME Scholarships Committee, to a student who is enrolled full-time in an undergraduate program in naval architecture, marine or ocean engineering deemed appropriate by the Scholarships Committee. The student must have been a Student Member of SNAME for at least four months prior to the application submittal deadline, and currently be an active member of a SNAME Student Section. Selection criteria includes, most importantly, evidence of professionalism and involvement in SNAME and/or similar professional societies, an expressed passion for naval architecture/marine engineering/ocean engineering as evidenced by the student’s application essay, evidence of sound academic achievement, and by the recommendations of three professionals – at least two of whom must be NA/ME/OE faculty who have had the student in class or a NA/ME/OE professional for which the student has worked as an intern, and at least two of whom are SNAME members. The scholarship is to be awarded annually, when merited in the opinion of the SNAME Scholarships Committee, and can be used by the student for tuition, textbooks, supplies, required equipment and academic fees, other academically related expenses required for enrollment at an educational institution, or for room and board or other necessary living expenses.
