The Greater Philadelphia Law Library Association (GPLLA) awards an annual scholarship to promising library students pursuing a career in law librarianship. The GPLLA Student Scholarship fund was established to provide financial aid to those students who are pursuing a graduate degree in library and information science. The purpose of this award is to encourage these students to pursue a career in law librarianship. Applicants must be a student accepted to and/or registered at an ALA-accredited library school and will continue as a student for at least another semester or quarter. They must demonstrate a commitment to law librarianship, based on education and/or employment history, GPLLA involvement and leadership, attendance at GPLLA events, and engagement with other law library organizations. Applicants must also reside within the geographic area covered by GPLLA. Preference will be given to applicants residing in the Tri-State area (generally understood to encompass the area of Pennsylvania east of the Susquehanna River, the area of New Jersey south of and including Trenton, and all of Delaware). Applicants must submit at least one letter of recommendation. A letter from a current or former teachers and employers is preferred. Please visit the scholarship's website for more information.
