The original Washington State Health Professional Loan Repayment and Scholarship program was established in 1989 to address health care workforce shortage issues in rural and underserved urban communities. Washington Health Corps programs support licensed health professionals in providing care at approved sites in critical shortage areas. Many types of healthcare providers are eligible, in a variety of clinical settings. In exchange for loan repayment, participants commit to serving in certain communities for a set period of time. The Behavioral Health Conditional Scholarship is for first-year graduate students in eligible behavioral health programs, with the condition that they commit to working in their field. The Nurse Educator Loan Repayment Nurses is for those with advanced degrees who can get loans repaid with the Nurse Educator Loan Repayment program. Applicants must review the WHC Program Reference Guide for more information about the award details and requirements.
