The Pacific Health Research Postdoctoral Fellowship provides support for outstanding graduates who have recently completed a degree at doctoral level and who propose to conduct research in any discipline related to improving the health of Pacific peoples. The value of this fellowship is based on a salary at a postdoctoral fellow level for 3 years and includes up to $105,000 for research expenses, an annual allowance of $2,500 to travel to a scientific meeting and a Tufungatika allowance of $3000 over the tenure of the Fellowship. Applicants must be a New Zealand citizen or hold residency in New Zealand, and be of indigenous Pacific descent. Applicants must also need to have a proven track record of research in the area of Pacific health development, hold a degree of doctor of philosophy (or an equivalent degree), and not have had more than five years of postdoctoral experience. If the applicant has not received the results of their thesis examination, they can still apply. Applicants must submit evidence of collaboration/support. They will need to provide letters of support from supervisor(s) stating their supervisory and resource arrangements during the tenure of the proposed award; a JP-certified copy of the applicant's academic transcript or professional qualifications; letters of support from any individuals or organisations who are contributing their time but are not receiving payment; any relevant letters of collaboration to support the applicant's application; and Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) or letters of support for any individuals not employed by the applicant's host organisation and will receive a salary or budget through this career development award (if within the award's specific budget allowances).
