The Wisconsin Mathematics Education Foundation currently offers the Sister Mary Petronia Van Straten Scholarship For Pre-Service Teachers to qualified students currently enrolled in a Wisconsin teacher education program as an Elementary or Secondary Education Major. Applicants must currently be enrolled in a Wisconsin public or private teacher education program. They must be enrolled in a teacher preparation course of study; be enrolled in, or already completed, a course incorporating the teaching of mathematics. Applicants must submit a PDF of two different official letters of support. The letter should be from instructors who have witnessed the applicant's passion for mathematics education. In this letter, applicants must ask the author to address the following topics: A statement of the experience the author has had with the student; Supporting evidence of the applicant's potential success in teaching, including specific examples of observations of the applicant's teaching quality; and Supporting evidence of the leadership ability of the applicant and other activities that the applicant has participated in related to teaching.
