The additional education may be pursued through full-time school attendance, night courses, or summer sessions. Applicants must hold membership in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. They must be enrolled at an accredited college or university. Applicants can apply as a "mature woman" who is at least 21 years old. They must have experienced an interruption in education of two or more years since completion of high school. Applicants can also apply as a "Traditional Age Student," who is under 25, for an undergraduate degree or any age for a graduate degree. Traditional age students must have not experienced an interruption in education for more than two years since completion of high school. All applicants must demonstrate involvement in Women of the ELCA. Applicants must submit a Pastors' Reference Form. If the pastor is a relative, applicants must request a reference from the chairperson or vice-chairperson of the congregation. They must also submit an Academic Reference Form. A letter of recommendation from a faculty member who has taught the applicant within the last three years must be submitted; they may be disregarded if the applicant is out of school for more than three years.
