The Adele Filene Student Presenter Grants provide financial assistance to students who have been selected to present oral research papers or research exhibits at the CSA National Symposium. The Costume Society of America greatly values the contributions of student members and wishes to foster their development. These grants for a day-of-presentation registration fee (and up to $600 if travel to an in-person symposium is possible), funded by the CSA Endowment, are intended to encourage student participation in both the symposium and CSA. Applicants must be a current student member of the Costume Society of America and must have received notice that their proposal for an oral research paper or research exhibit has been accepted for that year's National Symposium. Applicants must submit a cover page including contact information. They must also submit a Grant Proposal with a copy of the abstract submitted and accepted to the National Symposium, and the copy of the notice of acceptance to the National Symposium. Applicants must also submit a letter of recommendation from someone familiar with the applicant's academic record, preferably a faculty member or academic advisor that describes the applicant's qualifications, including the recommender's evaluation of the student's scholarship, past academic performance, ability to complete projects, professional promise, and importance of the proposed research project. The abstract must be submitted on October 1, 2025. The application for the grant must be submitted on January 15, 2026. Please visit the award's website or contact the Costume Society of America for more information.
