The Harriet and Leon Pomerance Fellowship will be awarded to support an individual project of a scholarly nature, related to Aegean Bronze Age Archaeology, and to be conducted between July 1 of the award year and the following June 30. Preference will be given to candidates whose project requires travel to the Mediterranean for the purpose stated above. Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States or Canada, or be actively pursuing an advanced degree at a North American college or university. Applicants must be current AIA members at the Graduate or Professional level. Previous Pomerance Fellows are not eligible. Applicants must submit two letters of reference from persons familiar with them and their work. The Fellowships Committee attaches the greatest importance to the applicant's detailed statement of the proposed project. It is important that applicants define the questions being explored and for applicants to state their goals and methodology as well as the relationship between the two. The committee is also looking for evidence of the scholarly significance and feasibility of the proposal. Additionally, the committee is interested in the applicant's itinerary and it is helpful if the applicant includes background information outlining the reasons for visiting these locations in the summary statement. It is also important to indicate that the applicant has begun to seek the necessary permissions required by many countries and museums to work with their materials.
