1st Financial Bank USA wants to celebrate those who recognize the importance of pursuing educational and financial goals with the 1st Financial Bank USA Financial Goals Scholarship.
On Olive's early death, her friends gathered funds to create a scholarship and, since she always encouraged people to go back to finish that degree, it was made a re-entry scholarship. Olive always wanted to help others reach their full potential. The Olive Lynn Salembier Memorial Reentry Scholarship will be awarded to students who are engineering majors. Re-entry and nontraditional students are exempt from minimum GPA requirements. Applicants must be studying full-time, however, exceptions will be made for reentry or nontraditional students. SWE scholarships support students pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees in engineering, engineering technology, and fields related to engineering. Applicants must be studying at an ABET-accredited program in engineering, technology or computing in the upcoming academic year. Students who attend an ABET-accredited community college program are also eligible to apply. A SWE membership is not required to apply. However, becoming a SWE member may qualify applicants for additional scholarships and add additional points to the applicant's application review score. The scholarship reviewers focus on extracurricular activities, work history, volunteerism, and interest and involvement in STEM. Applicants must submit one reference, either from someone who can speak to the applicant's academic work, such as a teacher, or someone who knows the applicant well and can speak to their character, such as a coach or supervisor. Students entering their first year of undergraduate study may apply from December 1, 2025 - February 2, 2026. Undergraduates entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year or pursuing graduate studies may apply from February 10, 2026 - March 31, 2026. Please visit the scholarship's website or contact the Society of Women Engineers for more information.
