Illinois Wesleyan, founded in 1850, is a selective liberal arts university for undergraduates featuring top-ranked music and theater, humanities, and science programs. The average class size is 17; the average student-teacher ratio is 11 to 1. In addition, IWU hosts one of the top NCAA Division III athletic programs in the country and ranks in the top ten among all divisions in producing Academic All-Americans. IWU's 70-acre campus is located in a residential area of Bloomington-Normal.
