Carlow, founded in 1929, is a church-affiliated, liberal arts college. Although it admits a small number of men, the college is primarily concerned with the education of women. Its 14-acre campus is located in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh, ten minutes from the downtown area, near the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University.
