1st Financial Bank USA wants to celebrate those who recognize the importance of pursuing educational and financial goals with the 1st Financial Bank USA Financial Goals Scholarship.
The Edward Yoshiharu Sakuma & Kay Kubo Sakuma Teachers College, Columbia University Scholarship was established in 2018 to address the shortage of qualified public school teachers in the state of Hawaii. Applicants must be pursuing a Masters, Doctoral, or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Education degree and attend the Teachers College at Columbia University. Applicants must also be graduates of a public high school or equivalent in the State of Hawai'i. Applicants must be committed to teaching in the State of Hawai'i public school system; have demonstrated volunteer and extracurricular activities with leadership roles; and have excellent character and leadership skills. Preference will be given to those who intend to teach mathematics or science and to renewal applicants.
