The George Fox University Artistic Achievement and Participation Awards are intended to recognize students who demonstrate outstanding talent and who intend to contribute to the George Fox University community through participation and involvement, but not necessarily as majors, in Music (instrumental and vocal) and Theatre. These awards are open to all new incoming students. Students who will apply for the music scholarship must submit an application and a letter of recommendation online. Video audition submissions will require students to submit a video and email a PDF of the music they are performing. Students who will apply for the theatre scholarship must submit an application to Bryan Boyd. It is optional but they may also include their theatre resume and headshot, if applicable. Performance applicants in acting and directing will have a 10-minute time slot for their audition and interview. Applicants should prepare two contrasting 90-second monologues (comic and dramatic, or classic and contemporary). Applicants interested in musical theatre also have an option of including a 32-bar musical theatre song in place of one of their monologues. Design or Technical and Stage Management applicants will have a 20-minute time slot for their portfolio review and interview. Designers should bring a portfolio of materials representing their work to the interview. Technical theatre, business, or management students should prepare a narrative explaining their experience and interest in their particular fields of theatre. If materials are available, these students are encouraged to bring their portfolios as well. Please visit the scholarship's website or contact the Financial Aid Office for more information.
