The SMPTE Student Paper Award recognizes the outstanding paper prepared and submitted by a Student Member. There is no required technical level for the papers. The paper must deal with some technical phase of motion pictures, television, photographic instrumentation, or their closely allied arts and sciences. Papers will be evaluated on technical merit, originality, and presentation. These criteria will be used to evaluate the author's understanding of the subject, contribution to the information or literature, and ability to organize and present material clearly. All submitted papers must have the following information on the title page: title of paper; applicant's name; applicant's address, phone number, and email address; name of school; and faculty member's or academic advisor's name and signature. All submissions must be accompanied by a copy of a current Student ID card. Please visit the award's website for more information and the list of the possible paper topics.
