Xavier University is a church-affiliated, liberal arts university. It was founded as a seminary for men in 1831, gained university status in 1930 and became coeducational in 1969. It has an innovative Freshman Experience Program and a rigorous core curriculum, which integrates ethics and values with critical thinking and communication skills. Xavier is the first university to offer Service Fellowships, which cover full tuition, room and board, to students with high academic achievements and exemplary records of community service. Its 100-acre campus is located in the city of Cincinnati.
