1st Financial Bank USA wants to celebrate those who recognize the importance of pursuing educational and financial goals with the 1st Financial Bank USA Financial Goals Scholarship.
The Mary Morrow-Edna Richards Scholarship is named in memory of Mary Frank Morrow who served as the first president of the North Carolina Classroom Teachers Association, and Edna Cotton Richards, an outstanding leader in the North Carolina Teachers Association and the North Carolina Association of Educators. Applicants must be enrolled or who plan to enroll in a teacher-education program. Applicants must be in their junior year of college or a senior in high school and willing to teach in NC Public schools for at least two years following graduation. Preference may be given to NC Teacher Cadet students, Future Teachers of America members, SNCAE or Aspiring Educator members, Children and grandchildren of North Carolina Association of Educators members. Other selection criteria include character, diversity, scholastic achievement, evidence of promise as a teacher, and the financial need of the applicant. Separate application forms are available for junior college students and high school seniors.
