Indiana University of Pennsylvania, founded in 1875, is a public, comprehensive institution. It is strengthened by an exciting array of polarities: a rural campus close to Pittsburgh, a large university with small classes, a recently endowed Honors College, a notable Learning Center for at-risk students, an enviable record of job placement for graduates, a rigorous liberal studies requirement, a Carnegie Doctoral I university where all classes are taught by regular faculty, a traditional collegiate environment with a strong emphasis on community service and a campus of gracious, historical buildings served by state-of-the-art technology. Programs are offered through the Colleges of Business, Education, Fine Arts, Health and Human Services, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and the School of Continuing Education. Its 350-acre campus is located in western Pennsylvania, 65 miles from Pittsburgh.
