City College of New York''s John Jay College of Criminal Justice is a public institution of liberal arts and criminal justice. Founded in 1964, it grew out of a program of higher education for New York City police officers. The school seeks to inspire students to the highest ideals of citizenship and public service and serves society by developing graduates who have the intellectual acuity, moral commitment and professional competence to confront the challenges of crime, justice and public safety in a free society. Its campus is located in the Lincoln Center area of Manhattan.
