City College of New York''s Brooklyn College, founded in 1930, is a public, liberal arts institution. It is committed to providing its students with a strong liberal arts education. The cornerstone of that commitment is the college''s core curriculum, which has long been a national model for general education programs. The ten core studies courses expose students to the principal branches of learning, including the arts, humanities and sciences, and provide a rigorous foundation for study in a major field. The college offers more than 125 majors and programs in the humanities, sciences, performing arts, social sciences, education and preprofessional and professional studies. Its 26-acre campus is located in Brooklyn''s Flatbush section.
