The University of Illinois at Chicago was formed by the 1982 consolidation of two campuses: the University of Illinois at the Medical Center and the University of Illinois at Chicago Circle. As a leading institution in Illinois and in the nation, the school delivers an outstanding education in one of the nation's top cities. Programs are offered through the Colleges of Architecture and the Arts, Associated Health Professionals, Business Administration, Education, Engineering, Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Nursing; and the Jane Addams College of Social Work. The campus is a true reflection of Chicago: a myriad of races, economic backgrounds, interests and experiences. UIC offers an extensive network of co-op educational opportunities, cutting-edge academic programs in more than 90 majors and the benefits of being a Research I university, all at an affordable price. UIC is one of only three institutions in the country to offer all six health profession programs, with Guaranteed Professional Program Admissions providing an early gateway to these professions. Its 216-acre campus is located close to Chicago's business district.
