Warren Wilson is a church-affiliated, liberal arts college. Founded in 1894 as a boys' school, it became a two-year college in 1942 and a four-year college in 1965. Its 1,100-acre campus is located in Asheville, in the Swannanoa Valley region of the Blue Ridge Mountains. All students are required to work on campus.
